Breakthrough Breast Cancer at Westminster [23rd May 2006] |

MPs have joined forces with the UK's leading breast cancer charity, Breakthrough Cancer and All-Party Parliamentary Group on Breast Cancer to encourage all women aged 50-70 to attend their breast-screening appointments when invited.
Meeting at Westminster, MPs heard that breast cancer is the UK's most common cancer and that over 41,000 women are diagnosed every year.
Lord Taylor of Warwick, together with the interns Carrie and Livia were invited to attend the reception in the House of Commons and discussed with other guests the risk factors and the great results that early detection through screening has brought in preventing women's lives. |

The Warwick Leadership Foundation partnered with the Mary Seacole Memorial Foundation to celebrate the work of this Victorian pioneering nurse and heroine of the Crimean War. She is one of the two famous women who aided British Troops in the Crimea. Her Contemporary, Florence Nightingale has been celebrated and is renowned and celebrated to this day. Mary Seacole however today remains largely forgotten.
