Drumming up support [20th July 2005]

Already a barrister, writer, broadcaster - and sometime Tory parliamentary candidate for Cheltenham - Lord Taylor of Warwick now has another reason to blow his own trumpet.

Or more accurately beat his own drum - for John Taylor is performing as a drummer with a band named Stillano, which he has formed with the singer-songwriter Alison David and Chris Barton, who toured with Chaka Khan.

"We're doing an album for the Warwick Leadership Foundation, a mentoring charity for children," he told me at the Eastern Eye Asian Business Awards. We've been rehearsing in the Lords music room and we have had them all tapping their toes."

The full coverage and headline news of the UK general election give the interns experience of live elections results coming in to the studio and experience of seeing politicians interviews live.

Lord Taylor hosts a reception in the House of Commons for the launch of the Inspiration Channel which aims to encourage family and ethical values through media.

Warwick Leadership Foundation iterns helped in the preparation and hosting of this successful event.

Warwick Leadership Foundation partners with the Advertising Association to host the annual luncheon at the Savoy Hotel.

The Advertising Association is a federation of 31 trade bodies and organisations representing the advertising and promotional marketing industries including advertisers, agencies, media and support services.

The World governing body of football FIFA meets Lord Taylor and the Warwick Leadership Foundation interns to discuss the possibility of a World Cup competition for UK colleges.

 
New guidelines from the British Board of Film [2nd February 2005]
[2nd February 2005]

The British Board of Film Classification has organised a reception to launch the new guidelines for classifying films. As Vice President of the Institution, Lord Taylor was a guest of the evening and commented: “ The evening went great and the new guidelines were well received. The emphasis of these new guidelines is upon protecting children and other vulnerable member of society" .

Young Americans to join the Internship program [2nd February 2005]

During a visit in Washington DC in February 2005, Lord Taylor of Warwick met Andy Mckay, Director of the British Council based at the British Embassy.

The meeting was on expanding the internship program with The Warwick Leadership Foundation in London to young Americans from the US inner cities. This program is aimed at providing not only parliamentary experience in the United Kingdom Westminster, but also to give individuals leadership skills.

Lord Taylor features in new book [19th October 2004]
[19th October 2004]

The book "False teeth and a Smoking Mermaid" has a collection of anecdotes and thoughts by famous people on the subject of grandchildren and grandparents. Unfortunately Lord Taylor did not know his grandparents but describes this special relationship as an important and special one. He goes on to say that the main attributes of a good grandparent are: "a loving nature, patience, the ability to tell wonderful stories, and the possession of a packet of sugar-free sweets!"
